In this publication, I discuss new findings related to the Quranic passage on the crucifixion by using a method combining paleography, philology, intertextuality and corpus linguistics (quantitative analysis). As a result, I provide alternative readings that support a new hypothesis about the voluntary death of Jesus in the Quran.

On 11–12 May 2022, I will take part in the International Workshop The Holy Book of the Ishmaelites in the World of Eastern Christianity (Faculty of Theology, University of Copenhagen). In my paper, ‘Qur’anic Quotations in Syriac and Garshuni: Some Sources’, I will introduce some Eastern Christian uses of the Islamic Scriptures, including excerpts preserved in book bindings, polemical writings, and theological works.
